How to pack your bedding
We all need a good restful sleep! Especially after spending the day moving into new accommodation… Nothing like snuggling up in bed, right?
Whether moving your
bed or storing your children's beds away from college (why not convert their
bedroom into a gym?), packing and storage must be done correctly!
Here are some tips to
know:
STRIP THE BED
Start by removing all
bed linen Sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases that must be washed, dried, and
carefully folded in a specially reserved moving box.
You'll want to slip
into clean, fresh sheets for your first night in your new home!
Roll up your comforter
and slip it into a cotton laundry bag or a large pillowcase, then put it in
cardboard. It is also the occasion or never to refresh the mattress.
Sprinkle it with
baking soda on the surface, then vacuum it. This will clean it and neutralize
bad odors to give it a new life.
FIND AN ACCOMPLICE
Mattresses and beds
are bulky and heavy! Unless you hire movers, you will need at least two people
to move your bed.
Place the mattress
inclined against the wall and clear a little space to work freely without
losing or damaging anything.
Disassemble the bed
and remember to hold the loose parts together with tape. Put all the screws and
small parts in a bag that you will tape to the bed.
This will prevent you
from losing them.
PACK YOUR MATTRESS
A good mattress can
last 10 to 15 years, so it better not risk getting it dirty or wet during
transport.
Protect your
investment by placing it in a special plastic mattress cover: you can buy it from
Britwrap.
This will prevent
tears, soiling, or humidity conducive to bacteria, germs, and mold. You surely
don't want to share your bed with this thing!
LEAVE IT FLAT
Some memory foam
mattresses can be rolled up, but in most cases, mattresses don't like to be
bent or twisted (especially if they contain coils).
Each takes one end of
the mattress with your partner and tips it on its side.
A good tip: clear a
passage between your bedroom and the exit to avoid dropping everything when
taking out your mattress. If you're just moving your mattress from place to
place, you can leave it against a wall until you're using it.
On the other hand,
leave it flat if you plan to store it for a while. And don't put anything heavy
on it: the mattress should only remember the shape of your body!
And that's all. Your
mattress will be ready to provide you with a restful night's sleep as soon as
you move into your new home.
If you intend to keep
your mattress for an extended time, storage boxes are an excellent solution for
storing large items outside your home in a dry and clean environment.
Wrap your mattress in mattress storage cover will remain well protected until you need it.
